Wuben D1 Flood flashlight review
Are you in search of a portable pocket flashlight that combines functionality, versatility, and impressive performance? The Wuben D1 Flood Flashlight might be a great option for you with a sleek compact design and a whole host of features and capabilities. The Wuben D1 stands out from the crowd with its unique flood zone, aptly named the “super flood flashlight.” What sets it apart is the multi-angular reflector that accompanies this flashlight, providing an expansive 175-degree flood zone. In this detailed review, I’m going to be taking a close look at the D1 and see whether it’s worth all the hype.
The Wuben D1 Flood Flashlight is an impressive addition to the lineup of Ruben flashlights. With a wide coverage of 175 degrees, it provides excellent illumination in your immediate vicinity. While its maximum output of 1100 lumens and throw distance of 130 meters may not be the highest in its class, the D1 truly shines with its expansive white flood zone. The flashlight lacks a tail switch but features a magnetic flat bottom, allowing it to securely attach to various surfaces. Its lightweight design ensures it stays in place regardless of orientation, making it highly convenient. The D1 really surprised me in this regard. I didn’t think either the throw (especially considering its lumen output) would provide as high as it was and I was pleasantly surprised in testing.
In terms of its Construction, the D1 is made from a T6061 aluminum, along with a unique milling that sets it apart from other flashlights on the market. The textured surface offers a solid grip, ensuring comfortable handling. It comes with a two-position pocket clip, allowing for tip-up carry. However, it does not support tip-down carry, which may be a drawback for some users. The flashlight uses a 18650 battery, and while it lacks a charging port on the body, it compensates by featuring a USB Type-C rechargeable battery that can also be used as a power bank – something I’ve not personally come across in a flashlight before (especially one this small). Additionally, the D1 is impressively durable, with a 1.5-meter impact resistance rating and an IP68 waterproof rating, making it suitable for various outdoor activities.
The Wuben D1 Flood Flashlight offers a unique combination of functionality, design, and utility. With its wide flood zone, impressive durability, and versatile battery platform, it proves to be a reliable companion for various activities. While it may not have the highest lumen output or the longest throw distance, the D1 compensates for these factors with its exceptional flood coverage. The flashlight’s lightweight and portable design, along with its magnetic flat bottom, provide added convenience in daily use. The ability to use the rechargeable battery as a power bank adds to its versatility and this was a feature I didn’t think I’d use as much as I did. I admire Wuben’s innovation in this regard.
Despite a few drawbacks such as the lack of a tail switch and limited carry options, the Wuben D1 remains a solid choice in its price range. Priced at $60.00, it offers good value for the unique features it brings to the table. Whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast, an EDC user, or simply in need of a reliable flashlight, the Wuben D1 is worth considering for its impressive flood zone, durability, and power bank functionality. For its price tag, I really think the flashlight is great value for money.
